They say I'm the beautiful one. All pomp and ceremony. Feathers catching the light and reflecting it around me. I sit back against the throng. Alert & listening. Studying the faces before me. The occasional nod and cock of the head before a great flutter of the feathers and a few sage words. The flock leans in. Solves the problems of the world. We whisper in muted tones followed by shrieks of joy. Order another round. Laugh until it hurts. And as the sun starts to dip we depart, travelling lighter, uplifted by the flock.
